On May 13, Ambassador Hans Klemm hosted an American Citizen's Town Hall Meeting at his residence for over 40 Americans residing in Timor-Leste. Regional Security Officer Bruce Paluch offered a general security briefing, U.S. Embassy Jakarta Vice Consul John Jacobs offered a presentation on consular services, and USAID Director Mark White provided a presentation on U.S. Government assistance programs in Timor-Leste. Mr. Jacobs provided an overview of consular services covering immigrant, non-immigrant visa, and American citizen services. In addition, he discussed absentee ballot registration and voting to ensure Americans in Timor-Leste have the opportunity to exercise their right to vote. Mr. White discussed USAID economic development programs in Timor-Leste, to include with 18 implementing partners assisting in a wide spectrum of areas. The event was part of Embassy Dili's Public Affairs outreach to our citizens in Timor-Leste to explain U.S. foreign policy programs and objectives in the country as well as to outline voting rights and consular services supported by U.S. Embassy Jakarta.
