U.S. Online Visa Application

U.S. Embassy Dili does not process visas.  Please visit U.S. Embassy Jakarta at http://jakarta.usembassy.gov/howtoapply.html for information on applying for a visa there.  Timorese residents may also apply at other U.S. Embassies or Consulates in the region, such as Singapore or Surabaya.

As of on May 1, 2010, all non-immigrant applicants to the United States must use the new online visa application form. The new DS-160 form replaces all the previous visa applications (such as the DS-156, DS-157, and DS-158).

The DS-160 is filled out online and submitted electronically to the U.S. Embassy or U.S. Consulate where the applicant will be interviewed.   Applicants complete the DS-160 form, and then upload a 2 x 2 jpeg formatted photo and print out only the bar-coded confirmation page.  Using only the barcode, applicants then can schedule an appointment online.

Applicants at Embassy Jakarta must pay the $140 visa application fee at Standard Chartered or certain Permata Bank branches.  Applicants must bring their passports, fee payment receipts, their printed confirmation page, and one extra photo to their appointment.  For additional information, including other documentation that may be required, please visit http://jakarta.usembassy.gov/visas.html (Tetun, PDF 34KB)
