Lost or Stolen Passport

Background:

1.  You must appear in person to sign your application before a Consular Officer.  Please make an appointment to see a Consular Officer by emailing ConsDili@state.gov or calling +670 332 4684.

2.  The process may take 4 to 6 weeks.  Since 2002, all U.S. passports are now printed in the US. The application is accepted in Dili, forwarded to Embassy Jakarta for processing, and sent to Washington DC electronically.  Once printed, the new passport is sent by DHL to Embassy Jakarta, and then forwarded to Dili.

3. U.S. Embassy Dili does not issue emergency passports.  If your situation requires you to travel sooner that 4 to 6 weeks from now, please call +670 332 4684.  The U.S. Embassy Dili works with the U.S. Embassy Jakarta to issue emergency passports on a case by case basis, and only when the Consul General in Jakarta determines a genuine emergency exists.

Fee:

The fee for lost/stolen passports is USD 100 for adults and USD 85 for those under 16 years old. This is paid in USD to the Embassy cashier in Dili.  The cashier is open from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.

Do Not sign the application until asked to do so by a Consular Officer.
