Fulbright Program
The United States Embassy in Timor-Leste is pleased to announce the opening of the Fulbright-SERN and Fulbright Foreign Student Scholarship Competition for the 2013-2014 Academic Year. The Fulbright-SERN Scholarships, supported by SERN and the Bayu-Undan project, offer 10 scholarships for Timorese citizens to pursue master's degrees or PHDs in fields of study related to the natural resources and energy sector at U.S. universities, beginning in August 2013. The grant covers expenses incurred for travel to and from the United States, tuition and books, health insurance, and room and board. William Fulbright of Arkansas. The Fulbright-SERN Program is sponsored by the Timor-Leste Secretary of State for Natural Resources, the Bayu-Undan project and the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the United States Department of State. Approximately 286,500 "Fulbrighters," 108,160 from the United States and 178,340 from other countries, have participated in the Program since its inception over sixty years ago. The Fulbright Program awards approximately 7,000 new grants annually. Currently, the Fulbright Program operates in over 155 countries worldwide and is offered to Timorese students.
